Bead Board

Most bead craft stores offer a range of bead boards varying in length and widths. Most bead boards have pocket areas for your beads and some with more than one trench or channel for more than one strands for your project.

What is the best board to use? Well, you can try a few until you find a suitable one. For myself I do not use it although I own one: cos mine is a bit too large for my work area. So, remember buy that suits your work space.

If you have one lay out your beads on the channel on both side of the zero marking whihc indicates the center; helps to give you a visual arrangement of your design before you start stringing them.

Your Bead Stock

As mentioned yesterday your bead source come from various information and supplies such as craft store which stock wide range og beads from basic to unique stock, to art glasses and lampwork beads. Bead magazines and internet websites also stock pile bead information and wholesales availability at discout. Again, go ahead and click those advertisers' links as they are inspirational sources of bead supplies and you can conviently order them online.

When shopping for beads online do yourself a favor by asking for a good descriptions of beads the online shops are offering. Look out for handling and shipping charges.

Cleaning Your Beads

You can clean your beads quite effectively using warm water and mild soap. And always wash your hands before handling your beads and crystals. Because dirts and perspiration on hands can make your beads look dull.

Storing Your Beads

Your beads, supplies, and stores are to be kept in a dry place. For the start you may use plastic boxes with lids, occasional shoe boxes, or any compact container with partition. It is a good investment to buy portable plastic storage boxes with compartment as you can carry them around and bead everywhere.

Organize Your Work Space

Easy access to your beads, supplies, and tools are important and having a good lighting working table is crucial too. Beading is a strain to your eyes so it is crucial to have good lighting and rest your eyes 10-15 mins for every hour of beading.

Tools To Buy

As you bead more frequently you may consider buying professional tools: wire cutters, flat nose plier, round nose plier, bead board, good tube of glue.

Equipment and Materials

The required equipment needed for creating bead jewelery is not costly and most likely you can begin without having to purchase expensive tools. For very basic projects you may consider just a pair of household pliers, sharp scissors, fine sewing needle, polyester thread, superglue, and plastic container. As you are becoming more involved in the craft you may need to upgrade your tools to more profess ional ones. But for the mean time you can do with the above.

Beads

You may need to know the basic types of bead; you can get these vast amount information on the websites, magazines, yellow pages, and craft stores. Go ahead and click on those google's adverisers below the blog you can certainly find some information there.

One of those categories of bead that are essential to a crafter is the glass bead. These glass beads are typically the Rocailles, Bugles, Fillers, and Decorated glass.

Rocailles are tiny glass beads available with a range of colors about 2mm-5mm in size. They are ususally used as complementary beads to other larger beads.

Bugles are smal glass tubes available from 2mm to 25mm. Not so common in bead jewelery but you may use them once awhile.

Fillers are larger than Rocailles. Usually use for necklace making.

Decorated glass such as polished crytals and lamp beads with wide range of colors. These are important beads for your beading projects.

Getting Started I I I - Color & Birthstone Crystals Color

Color plays an important in choosing your beads. Everyone has their favorite colors. For me pastels and bright colored beads are must have combination and I use Swarovski crystal beads and pearls quite a bit.
So chances that you make or buy piece that match with something in your wardrope.

Before ending, I like to touch on Birthstone Crystals Colour. Many women and youg girls believe that Birthstone naturally gravitae towards your luck and charm. As such many of esmee jewelery also consist of combination of birthstone with birthmonth of the buyers. Example, for birthmonth of February, a combination of Swarovski Amethyst, Violet crystals beads, Sterling silver clasp & lever back earrings will be perfect for a mild symmetrical person.

Getting Started I I - Personal Style

Yesterday we discussed about personal style and all that sense of style which can be generalised into 2 main categories: casual or formal.

In beading you can be consistent in one or the other, but also a combination of both. Depends who your target wearer is; for a mom, a casual design will be great but to a wearer who is more of a formal type then a more classy and detailed design is more suitable -say a special evening event.

Patterns can be symmetrical and asymmetrical. Rule of the thumb, a formal piece tends to be more symmetrical, example: a focal pendant combines with a repeated pattern of beads. Asymmetrical has a balance but overall for casual design.

We have also what we call "crossovers" which some casual design is symmetrical and formal design asymmetrical.

Thus, in designing your jewelery you need to have an understanding between these trends.

Other aspects to look at are the size of bead appropriate for the wearer. A lightweight strand of seed beads with a couple of crystals match nicely for a youg girl.

Personality such as large bead usually represents loud and bold. Look at those accessories carried by the people say handbags and shoes; they will give some clues.
